The ongoing increase in the global burden of common mental disorders is gaining attention. The main aim of the Groningen Mental Health Initiative is to enhance knowledge on how to improve the mental health of a regional population from a prevention perspective, to reduce the prevalence of mental disorders by 10% in 10 years. This includes identifying modifiable risk factors and vulnerable groups, as well as investigating risk factors for mental health care utilization and protective factors for non-utilization of mental health care. The results will provide valuable insights for the prevention of mental health disorders
