As the population ages, individuals present with more comorbidities or risk factors, approximately
31% of Dutch adults and 86 of those aged over 75 years have at least two chronic conditions (such as
diabetes). The true impact of sociodemographic factors, lifestyle, and psychological aspects on
patients with the development of irregular heart rhythms and coronary artery disease remains
unclear. Investigating how these conditions develop over time and what factors contribute to their
development can guide outpatient clinic organization and enhance patient care plans, ultimately
optimizing treatment and preventing worse health outcomes.
