In rural regions undergoing structural change, ensuring equitable access to health-care becomes an increasingly difficult challenge [1][2][3]. The introduction of mobile/digital health (mHealth) services can address the arising health-care shortages by providing care at any time – and importantly – any place [4]. However, the implementation of mHealth solutions carries inherent limitations [5][6].
Based on a comprehensive analysis of the Lifelines dataset our research aims to derive the prospects and likely challenges for the introduction/extension of mHealth services in this region, such as identifying which social groups are likely to benefit the most or be excluded from such interventions.
