Unhealthy diet and physical activity habits increase the risk of poor physical and mental health.
Complex interactions between individuals and their environment lie at the heart of health and
lifestyle habits, and also health inequity. Early indicators of functional decline are a promising
strategy to identify persons at risk, who still have the capacity to improve through targeted lifestyle
intervention. LifeLines Biobank data provides a unique opportunity to study such indicators in detail,
and, through linkage with other data, find readily available and relevant health or environmental
indicators. The results will contribute to targeted interventions opposing societal health inequality.
