We aim to discover genetic factors that influence the gut microbiome composition in a well-characterized population cohort LifeLines, and to investigate the gene-environmental interactions relevant to the host microbiome. We will use the metagenomics sequencing data of the gut microbiome, which is currently being generated for Lifelines-DAG3 cohort, and is available for Lifelines-DEEP cohort. In this analysis we will correct for other environmental factors that influence the microbiome composition, and will perform the analysis of genetics and gene-environmental interactions in relation to bacterial taxonomies, pathways, and functional microbial clusters (i.e., clusters of antibiotic resistance genes).
