This study aims to investigate the trends and impacts of modifiable lifestyle factors (i.e., smoking, dietary habits) among residents in 3 municipalities in the northern region of the Netherlands. This will be accomplished by examining:
1) Whether adherence to the WCRF/AICR recommendations for cancer prevention is associated with a higher quality of life and lower mortality among cancer survivors and a control group of people who were not affected by cancer, and whether the effects differ between the groups; and
2) How lifestyle factors change overtime and whether a cancer diagnosis motivates behavioral change.
