Bio-informatica minor 2024: Regional health patterns in the northern Netherlands

Bio-informatica minor 2024: Regional health patterns in the northern Netherlands - Hanzehogeschool Groningen

Student assignment:
In this project you will explore a selection of cohort data that were aggregated by region (i.e. zipcode), including demographic, biophysical, health & lifestyle data, as well as information on conditions and diseases. Data aggregated by gender and age group are also available. You will supplement these with other geo-data sources where necessary (e.g. from CBS, rijkswaterstaat, kadaster, RIVM, KNMI, etc.). The dataset will include up to a hundred variables across several hundreds of regions. Note: this dataset is derived from the Aletta Jacobs student challenge. The aim of this project is to identify regional patterns of interest. For instance, what differences exist between urban and rural areas, how do coastal regions differ from inland regions, are various provinces or economical zones different, or do e.g. nearby industries have identifiable effects on health? In the process, you will also look into relationships between various variables. Your final goal is to parcellate the region that the dataset covers in a data-driven way, describe how the various sub-regions differ concerning the various variables of interest, and visualize these results in an insightful manner.
