The Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns put further strain on people suffering from anxiety disorders. However, some people with pre-existing anxiety disorders experienced a decrease in their anxiety symptoms during the lockdowns as compared to pre-covid times. Processes could include lifted societal pressures or fit between predispositions and actual threat. Using Lifelines data we aim to answer the questions: (1) Did the symptoms of people with pre-existing anxiety disorders decrease during the Covid-19 lockdowns in comparison to pre-pandemic times? (2) What are risk and protective factors for people with pre-existing anxiety disorders to experience less anxiety symptoms during the lockdowns?
